We are not a certified lead inspector, risk assessor, or abatement contractor, and nothing here is an inspection, a risk assessment, or an abatement design. Test results, and any decision to disturb, repair, or remove paint that may contain lead, should be confirmed with a certified lead professional and with your state or local lead program, whose requirements differ by location. Work that disturbs paint in housing built before 1978 is federally regulated, and the requirements that apply to a paid contractor are not the same as those that apply to you working in your own home.
